The Royal Academy of
Engineering’s London Design Festival Programme 2010
Designing a low carbon
infrastructure for London
The Academy is proud to be a part of this year’s
London Design Festival. Design is very much at
the heart of the Academy’s activities as it is
not only the fundamental discipline that
underpins the wealth creating and societal
potential of all engineering innovations, but
will also become paramount in the years to come
as the UK moves to an economy based on
innovative high-value businesses and industries.
The Academy’s theme for their London Design
Festival events is Designing a low carbon
infrastructure for London. Much has been said of
the need to reduce our carbon footprint and not
enough talk of how it is actually going to be
done. Join the Academy to view the exhibitions
and take part in the events, debates and
activities that will tackle this issue head on
by people who can make low carbon living for
Londoners a reality. Hear directly from the
designers, engineers and entrepreneurs about
cutting edge engineers design solutions that
have been developed to reach London’s goal of
sustainable living.
Whether you are a Londoner,
school pupil, teacher, designer or artist, or
simply want to know more about the real issues
and practicalities of designing a low carbon
city, our programme will have something to tempt
you.
