Visiting Professors' Scheme
Visiting Professors in Integrated System Design

The Academy’s Vision for the Future
This initiative was set-up
with the intention of supporting universities devise
their own strategies for making students more
system-aware. Four years on, a great deal of the
material generated by the Visiting Professors
appointed and selected case studies from industry
were used as the basis for the highly acclaimed
publication ‘Creating Systems that Work’, which has
become the definitive systems guide for UK
undergraduate engineers and beyond.
This highly successful and
sought after scheme has just completed its sixth
cycle of appointments with Visiting Professors being
confirmed at the Universities of Cranfield, Kent and
York. This scheme now
boasts 30 Visiting Professors operating at 24
universities in the UK.
