PolicyNet
E-mail Group
The PolicyNet e-mail discussion group has
been set up to encourage communication
between members of PolicyNet. The list is
only open to members of PolicyNet, and the
function of the discussion group is
-
To encourage
individuals and institutions to share
policy related news
-
To publicise
policy related events
-
To discuss policy
related issues
-
To provide a forum
to post policy related questions
-
To provide a
virtual community for members of
PolicyNet in between the monthly
meetings.
Subscription to the
list is by no way mandatory. Notification of
future PolicyNet activities will be sent out
on separate e-mails, so that those who choose
not to be on the list will still receive
them. However, it is hoped that we can build
and provide an effective service through the
use of this technology.
The list will be
subscription only, meaning that no postings
can be made from outside individuals. For a
trial period, the list will be un-moderated,
meaning that everyone can post to the list
as they choose. However, if the traffic on
the list becomes too voluminous, or
off-topic, the PolicyNet team will moderate
the postings to the list. No attachments
will be able to be sent to the list, and
users will be asked to use basic netiquette
when using the list: no personal mails, no
off-topic discussions, and no spam e-mail.
Although PolicyNet is
co-ordinated by the Policy team at The Royal
Academy of Engineering, the
Institution of Engineering and Technology has generously agreed
to host the e-mail discussion group on their
server. To comply with data protection
issues, The Royal Academy of Engineering
cannot pass your details to the Institution
of Electrical Engineers. If you would like
to subscribe to the PolicyNet list, please
send an e-mail to:
Darren Gladwin
Senior
Administration Officer, Engineering Policy
Department
Institution of Engineering and Technology
[E-mail Darren]
Please specify that you would like to
join the PolicyNet discussion list, and
providing your name, organisation, and e-mail
address. An e-mail will then be sent to you describing
how the list works, how you can post to the
list, and how you can remove yourself from
the list. For data protection issues we
would like to stress that if you subscribe
to the list, the Institution of Electrical
Engineers will hold your details on their
system.
Again, it is up to you
if you choose to join the list, although we
look forward to having as many PolicyNet
members as part of this virtual community.
If you have any queries about the discussion
group, don’t hesitate to contact us.
