The MacRobert Award
The Academy presents the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award, the UK's premier award for innovation in engineering. The award is presented annually in
June.

The Royal Academy of Engineering ERA Foundation Entrepreneurs Award
A prize fund has been established to identify
entrepreneurial researchers, working in UK
universities, in the field of
electro-technology, who are at an early stage in
their career. The award will be presented to an
individual or team demonstrating considerable
entrepreneurial promise and the potential to
benefit the UK’s future prosperity.

Special Achievement Award
This award recognises the
contribution of an individual working as part of
a team involved in a major engineering project
that has substantial impact on society.

Sustained Achievement Award Awarded
to an engineer normally resident in the UK whose
achievements have had a profound impact upon
their engineering discipline. This Award applies
particularly to those engineers who have not
been recognised earlier in their careers for
reasons such as the latency in the impact of
their work or late disclosure due to national or
commercial secrecy.
Medals
The Academy awards a number of medals each year in recognition of excellence in engineering.

Prince Philip Medal Awarded periodically to an engineer of any nationality who has made an exceptional contribution to engineering as a whole through practice, management or education.

President's Medal Awarded, not more often than once a year, to an organisation or individual, who has contributed significantly to
the Academy's aims and work through 'initiative in promoting excellence in engineering'.

Sir Frank Whittle Medal Awarded to an engineer, normally resident in the UK, for outstanding and sustained achievement which has contributed to the well-being of the nation. The field of activity changes annually.

International Medal
The International Medal is awarded occasionally
to an individual, resident outside of the
European Union, for his or her outstanding and
sustained personal achievement in the broad
field of engineering, including commercial or
academic leadership or for specific products
and/or projects.

Silver Medal
Established to recognise an outstanding and
demonstrated personal contribution to British
engineering, which has resulted in successful
market exploitation, by an engineer working in
the United Kingdom, with less than 22 years in
full time employment or equivalent on 1 January
in year of award and who will normally be
Chartered. Up to four medals may be awarded in
any one year.

Public Promotion of Engineering Medal
Awarded to an individual, small team or
organisation who has contributed to the
Academy's aims and work through their initiative
in promoting engineering to the public.
