Schemes for Engineers in Research and Development
International Travel Grants: Instructions For Applicants
Before completing the
on-line application form please check the
scheme information
page to ensure you are eligible to apply.
It is the
responsibility of applicants to ensure the
reports from their two nominated
referees are sent to The Academy. One
referee must be a superior at their current
place of employment whilst the other should
be from a different organisation. Both
should know the applicant’s work well and
preferably be engineers. Each referee should
be given a copy of the
guidelines for
referees’ reports along with a copy of the
application form. The report must
be sent electronically by
email. Applications will not be processed
without both referees' reports.
Where applicants
intend to present a paper at a conference,
the titles of both should be written out in
full when stating the Activity on the form.
Applicants are requested to avoid using
acronyms where possible.
When the Academy
acknowledges receipt of an application, it
will also request additional documentation
from the applicant to support it. This will
usually include:
-
a copy of the
abstract(s) of any paper(s) being
presented,
-
an itinerary of
any research or field visits being
undertaken,
-
a list of previous
publications,
-
a paragraph of no
more than 200 words justifying the
relevance of the visit to the
applicant’s current work,
-
a copy of the
personal details page of the applicant’s
passport.
This material must be submitted electronically by email. Decisions on funding
are normally given within four weeks of
receiving a completed application.
All enquiries
should be made to Ian Bowbrick at the Academy quoting 'International Travel Grants'.
